"It makes me feel happy and valuable whilst learning new things - I guess that’s what volunteering is all about"

My initial response to volunteering for Seeing Ear was hesitation as English is not my first language. I wasn’t sure I could do this kind of work. But I accepted the challenge, and thanks to Seeing Ear's training I have learned some new Microsoft Word editing methods. I am glad I had an opportunity to learn something new. Being a volunteer I have really gained lots of fantastic experience, learning new things and helping people. It makes me feel happy and valuable - I guess that’s what volunteering is all about. Also, I want to make my son proud of me just like I am proud of him. My son and I are grateful for the opportunity and freedom to study and progress since coming to UK. Offering my time and energies by being a volunteer is one of the ways to say thank you to the country.
