How do I apply?

Take the link to The Library, and the first link on that page is called Apply to Join. Fill in the on-line form and do make sure ALL the questions are answered and that you declare your disability at the end - don't just say "Yes"! You should get a response within a couple of days.

What does it cost?

Nothing to you - the same as your local Public Library.

How do I read these books?

The same way you read any letter on your computer - speech, screen magnification or electronic Braille. These are plain text files that can be used in any word-processor. We also recommend SpeakOn - see our Links page.

I'm not registered blind

By law, you have to be 'visually impaired' which means that you cannot read a book under normal conditions because of poor sight or physical disability, such as paralysis. You don't need to be registered as blind or partially sighted. See our application form for more details or e-mail the Librarian.

My child is blind

You can join on your own behalf if you are visually impaired, or as a carer or teacher of a visually impaired person if you are helping them obtain books. Just make your status clear at the bottom of the application form.

I've forgotten my password, want to change my password etc.

Just re-apply - it's a (fairly!) automated system

Can I use this from another computer?

Yes, wherever you like. Just use the same username and password.

Are these mp3 files

No, plain text, which is why they don't speak to you (which would be useless if you were deaf and needing Braille).
