Joining the On Line Library

Please read carefully:

Library membership is restricted to the visually impaired who are also UK or EU residents.
Visually impaired, as defined by the Visually Impaired Persons Act 2002, means that you must fit into one of the following five categories to be allowed to join the Library.

be blind;
have an impairment of visual function which cannot be improved, by the use of corrective lenses, to a level that would normally be acceptable for reading without a special level or kind of light;
be unable, through physical disability, to hold or manipulate a book; or
be unable, through physical disability, to focus or move his eyes to the extent that would normally be acceptable for reading.
be a teacher, carer, parent or guardian of such a person and join to get material on their behalf.

We regret that print-disability due to other reasons, such as dyslexia, are not allowed under the terms of our Copyright Licence.
Membership is free and there are no age restrictions.

Application Conditions

1 Members must be both visually impaired and either UK or EU resident.
2 Members accept all offered library materials at their own risk.
3 Members and applicants agree to supply documentary proof of disability on request.
4 Members agree not to allow access to offered library materials to any third party, including anyone who might be eligible for membership in their own right.
5 The Seeing Ear reserves the right to refuse or suspend membership.

You will be sent an e-mail automatically to the above address confirming your application. If you do not receive this e-mail within an hour then there is probably a problem, and you will need to register again. If your application is accepted then you will be sent a username and a password so that you can access the Library. You can enter the username and password that you want to use below. We cannot guarantee that they will be acceptable to the system, but we will try to use these. Use up to 8 characters for each and only use letters and numbers in any combination. Do not use spaces! Remember that passwords are case-sensitive - capital letters are NOT the same as lowercase letters.
