A Gift for Christmas.
Did you know your christmas shopping can make a donation to us at no cost to you?
Our Free Online library for blind/print disabled adults and children is totally funded through charitable donations. As part of our Christmas Campaign 2010 we have signed up with Easyfundraising.org. Whenever you do online shopping go through the website using the following address: www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/theseeingear. When you make a purchase the charity gets a percentage - up to 15% - at NO EXTRA COST to yourself. Genius!
It has over 2000 retailers registared including M&S, Play.com, ticketmaster, Argos, Topman to name but a few. So what better excuse do we need to shop????
Go to their Facebook page and press LIKE and be in with the chance of winning a years supply of Thorntons - Yes a year!!
Also by changing GOOGLE to EASYSEARCH (theseeingear.easysearch.org.uk) everytime you search for anything the charity gets 0.5p - so get searching!!!
New Equipment
We have a new book scanner which does not require the removal of the spine from our books inorder to scan them.
This means that we can process newer and more valuable books, as the new scanner causes no damage to them.
New People
We now have a full time Volunteer Manager and more volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for us, please use the email address on the Contact Page to let us know.
Free Books
For Visually Impaired School Children
We are currently approaching schools and asking them which text books they urgently require for their VI departments.
We requested that they send us one book, which they require urgently. They tell us which format they require the book to be presented in and a stamped, self addressed envelope so that we can return the text book back to them when we have published it the the Library.
Books for Dyslexics
If you are unable to read a book because you suffer from from print blindness caused by Dyslexia, then the Library is now open for you to use.
Please go to the Library page and sign up in the normal manor. Please put Dyslexia in the disability field.
